Update on Southern Branch Library — Carrboro Partnership <br />On May 13, 2014 the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) authorized staff to <br />engage in negotiations with Main Street Partners of Chapel Hill ( "Main Street ") regarding <br />the potential Southern Branch Library location adjacent to the 300 Main Street <br />development located in Carrboro. At its October 21, 2014 regular meeting, the BOCC <br />will consider authorizing the Chair to execute a non - binding Letter of Intent with regards <br />to a potential Orange County Southern Branch Library. <br />Should the BOCC authorize this non - binding Letter of Intent, the estimated timeline <br />regarding the project activity is noted below. It is still planned that as the process for the <br />new Southern Branch Library goes forward the staff will begin preparation for the closure <br />of the two (2) current locations and the transfer of operations, services and staff.
