The relevance of the County's resident population to the future demand for EMS services will be considered in an effort to project future demands and in turn needs of both operations. The source of the material presented in this section is the North Carolina Office of Budget and Management (NCOBM). The projected July 2012 resident population is 137,760. Over the next decade the County's population is projected to increase by just under 20,000 residents; 14.4 %. The following decade, 2022 -2032, although increasing at a lower percentage; i.e. 12.6 %; will still experience an increase in population of yet another 20,000 residents.
