Orange County NC <br />Radio Communication Tower and System Infrastructure Upgrade <br />RF Coverage and Sites /Towers <br />2. RF Coverage <br />RF coverage was predicted for each of the additional sites identified, combined with the <br />existing VIPER sites providing RF coverage to Orange County, and plotted. The RF <br />coverage plots are shown below. Additionally, a high - resolution plot has been <br />generated and will be provided as a separate file due to the large file size. <br />2.1 800 MHz VIPER System <br />RF coverage percentages for Orange County are listed in Tables 1 and 2 below. Table <br />1 lists the coverage percentages for the existing system, and Table 2 lists the <br />percentages with the four proposed new sites. <br />800 MHz proposed antenna mounting heights are listed in Table 3 below. <br />2. 1.1 Northeast - Caldwell Area Site (Bill Poole Rd) <br />This site could provide 800 MHz VIPER coverage in the northeast portion of the County. <br />This site was listed in the Crown Castle database as an existing 400 ft. guyed tower. <br />Investigations have shown that this tower was dismantled. <br />However, a new195 ft. monopole tower is being proposed for commercial use and is in <br />the review /approval process with the County. This new tower is being proposed by <br />American Tower Corporation (ATC) for use by AT &T, and other potential commercial <br />carriers. <br />800 MHz RF coverage has been predicted from this site, and is shown in Figure 1. <br />Figure 2 is a representation of the previous 800 MHz portable talk -in coverage. <br />The County should consider pursuing use of this tower following its use approval. <br />In the event that there is no space in the shelter, or use of the carrier's shelter is not <br />permitted, Orange County will need to procure and install a shelter for its use.
