• Current proposal heard at February 24, 2014 quarterly public hearing <br /> -Community members asked for a meeting in the community <br /> -Public hearing adjourned until September 8, 2014 <br /> Community Meeting <br /> • County Planning staff held a community meeting on April 7, 2014 <br /> -Approximately 33 people attended the meeting <br /> -Staff encouraged meeting attendees to contact staff if they wanted to meet in <br /> small groups or one-on-one <br /> • Community representative contacted staff in mid-August <br /> -Meeting with small group held on August 18 <br /> Result of August 18 Meeting <br /> • Regular meeting date/time established for staff and interested community members to <br /> meet <br /> -3�d Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Ruritan Club <br /> -May be more frequent after holidays <br /> • Staff suggests continuing the public hearing process <br /> • General agreement that the target date for completion of proposal would be in time for a <br /> March 2015 BOCC meeting. <br /> Proposed Public Hearing Process <br /> • Public Hearing must be adjourned to a date/time certain in order for the application to <br /> not be considered a withdrawal <br /> -Withdrawal treated the same as a denial (1 year waiting period for new <br /> application) <br /> • 2015 meeting calendar not yet adopted <br /> • Propose to adjourn the public hearing until December 1, 2014 at which time it is <br /> expected the public hearing will be further adjourned until a March 2015 meeting date <br /> Recommendation <br /> • Open the public hearing that was adjourned at the February 24, 2014 quarterly public <br /> hearing. <br /> • Accept any additional public, BOCC, and Planning Board comment on the proposed <br /> amendments. <br /> • Adjourn the public hearing until December 1, 2014 at which time it is expected the public <br /> hearing will be further adjourned until a March 2015 meeting date. <br /> Lindsey Efland said the Efland community is involved in looking at the overall plans and <br /> proposals being made. He said the community has agreed to this series of ineetings, and he <br /> estimates that it will take until late February or early March to finalize those work sessions. He <br /> said the community would urge the Board to allow them the opportunity to meet with the <br /> planning staff to develop and polish these amendments. <br /> Chair Jacobs invited comments from the Commissioners. <br /> Commissioner McKee thanked the staff for their willingness to work with the community. <br /> Chair Jacobs said he is glad to see this is being done, but he would like to note that this <br /> is not the first time the community has had an opportunity to comment. He asked staff to look at <br /> the number of times the group has met in Efland in the past. <br />
