Heather Main -Buckhorn
Transportation
Green Building
Not Cane Creek?
Enhancements Youth, Aging
Charter School
Response: The Buckhorn project as presented is in accordance with the
water and sewer agreement between Orange County and the City of
Mebane.
The Buckhorn Village project will be guided by the traffic impact analysis
regarding roadway imp.rovernents, entrance and. exit locations, and
signalization. These infrastructure improvements will increase the current
capacity of Buckhorn Road and thus reduce the current delays and traffic
jams that exist on a under capacity road. Widening of Buckhorn Road will
predominantly occur within the existing right-of-way. Should additional
right-of-way be required the property will be purchased based on fair
market value to the owners. tt is too early to determine if additional right of
way will be needed.
Buckhorn Village is striving to implement s,ustainability methods that are
applicable and economical for the type' of development. Emerging market
development presents unique challenges to sustainability, but Buckhorn
Road Associates is committed to adopting as many design standards as
feasible from theLEEI~-l~.etail RatirZg System. Reuse of storm water far
irrigation and treatment of storm water will be used through out the project,
as will water saving plumbing devices. Buckhorn Village is designed as a
walkable community, where visitors can park and walk to a wide variefy of
establishments. Provision for bicyclers and mass transit are important
factors in the design.
32.
