M <br />Living wage: At a recent collaboration meeting, we discussed our desires to pay a living wage to <br />our employees. Consecutive years of no wage increases have resulted in our classified employees <br />moving backwards with respect to inflation as well as introducing pay equity issues. In fact, over <br />the past 15 years, classified employees have only received, on average, 1.8% annually. <br />Fortunately, and thanks to the strong support of the Board of Orange County Commissioners, our <br />district was able to give all of our employees, including our classified employees, the equivalent <br />of a 3% increase. In addition, the district recently conducted a classified salary study and will be <br />implementing and recommending additional salary increases for our classified employees to <br />address market rate changes and pay equity issues. <br />
