Commissioner McKee said he feels the towns need to be included, and staff should reach out to them with this proposed project and to treat them as full partners. Colleen Bridger proposed that a smaller advisory board could be created until the neighborhoods are selected, and then the municipalities and neighborhood members could come on board as soon as the selection is made. Commissioner McKee said he just wants to make sure they are not running on separate tracks from the towns. Chair Jacobs said the mayors and town managers could be looped into the initial process and told where they will be engaged. He said this will allow them to be part of the communication. Colleen Bridger said she wants to get this right. She said if this is passed as part of the budget, then the next step is the advisory board, so that work can be done over the summer. Commissioner Gordon asked if this overall board is going to select the zones. Colleen Bridger said yes. She said the advisory board will hear presentations from each of the neighborhoods as to why they should be picked, along with statistical information. She said two will then be chosen, with the expectation that there will be one in the north and one in the south. Commissioner Gordon noted that zone six includes the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Center. She said this might be a valuable resource. Commissioner Price asked if there are plans to add other neighborhoods once the first two are started. Colleen Bridger said yes, but it will be at least a year or two after the first two neighborhoods are started. Chair Jacobs said this is an area that Commissioner porosin had a great interest in. He said the Board looks forward to working with staff on this. 4. Questions and Answers Board member and staff introductions were made.
