3. Both the City and County need to evaluate the amount of Orange County's sewer capacity <br />reservation. The Utility Service Agreement between Orange County and Mebane currently <br />reserves 250,000 GPD in the Mebane Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). With Morinaga <br />(^'30,000 GPD) and Efland (^'50,000 GPD) coming on line in the near future, only 170,000 <br />GPD remain in the current reservation. As previously indicated, low volume water users are <br />desired for location in this area due to capacity limitations. Orange County may want to <br />consider increasing the reservation by participating in a capacity increase at the WWTP. <br />4) Transportation ................................................ ............................... ..........................Craig Benedict <br />a) Orange Public Transportation /Triangle Transit Connector Route <br />Triangle Transit, in partnership with Orange County and City of Mebane staff, is refining <br />logistical implementation details associated with the planned Mebane- Efland- Hillsborough- <br />Durham express bus route (with Route 420 connections to Chapel Hill). Phase 1 of the Orange <br />Durham Express (ODX) route has been implemented to Hillsborough. Phase II of Triangle <br />Transit's ODX is scheduled to come online in January 2015 completing the Mebane - <br />Hillsborough- Durham connection. During this same period, OPT will begin providing peak period <br />service from Mebane to Efland to Hillsborough to link with Triangle Transit. Research has shown <br />that over 1,400 people in the Mebane zip code work at Duke and UNC. Staff will provide any <br />other information at the meeting, and the governing boards can discuss issues related to this <br />item as necessary. <br />b) Mebane Park and Ride <br />Potential park- and -ride locations have been <br />identified in Mebane near 1 -85/40 including <br />the following near Mebane Oaks <br />Interchange: <br />1. MeclCenter Mebane (Cone Health) <br />2. Tanger Outlets <br />3. Vacant land behind Wendy's <br />Potential temporary sites for the park -and <br />ride lots include: <br />1. Walmart Shopping Center <br />2. Mebane /Cone Health Medical <br />Center <br />There may be an opportunity for Triangle <br />Transit to collaborate with the Piedmont <br />Authority for Regional Transportation <br />(PART) to implement a joint facility to serve <br />both the Orange County /Triangle Transit <br />regional express route and PART's plans for <br />connections from the Burlington and <br />Mebane areas to the Triangle region. <br />f <br />i IR 2l <br />3 <br />
