Monthly and Six Month Plan Cost <br />Totals <br />1 <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Brenda Bartholomew, Human Resources <br />Director, 919 - 245 -2552 <br />Diane Shepherd, Benefits Manager, 919- <br />245 -2558 <br />PURPOSE: To consider the County Manager's recommendations for employee health <br />insurance and other benefits effective January 1, 2015. <br />BACKGROUND: The County provides employees with a comprehensive benefits plan <br />including County -paid health, dental and life insurance, an employee assistance program, <br />flexible compensation plan and paid leave for permanent employees. Additionally, the County <br />contributes to the Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System and supplemental <br />retirement plan(s). <br />Attachment 1 provides cost details of current and alternate health plan options. Based on <br />recent claim analysis and experience, the projected renewal increase for FY 2014 -15 is <br />estimated to be 13 %. An overview of current benefits and proposed changes to health benefits <br />were shared at the September 11, 2014 work session and are reflected in Attachment 2. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The attachments include the estimated costs of the health insurance <br />options. Finance and Administrative Services staff has confirmed there is adequate funding <br />already budgeted to fund the Manager's Recommendation below. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve Health Insurance <br />Option 1, which requires a 13% renewal rate increase to the County beginning January 1, 2015. <br />
