ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: June 24, 2008
Action Agenda ,
Item No. _ - j ~
SUBJECT: Recommendation to NCDOT Concerning the Addition of Subdivision Roads in
Cameron Estates Subdivision to the State Maintained Road System
DEPARTMENT: Planning and Inspections PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No
ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT:
1. Map of Cameron Estates Subdivision Karen Lincoln, 245-2594
2. Letter from C.N. Edwards, NCDOT and Craig Benedict, 245-2592
SR Addition Investigation Reports for:
Rock Garden Lane, Silver Fox Circle,
Dairy Farm Drive, and .Governor Drive
3. Letter from Town of Hillsborough Planning Staff
PURPOSE: To make a recommendation to the North Carolina Department of Transportation
(NCDOT) concerning a petition to add subdivision roads in Cameron Estates to the State
Maintained Secondary Road System.
BACKGROUND: Cameron Estates Subdivision is located off the east side of North Carolina
Highway 57, Hillsborough Township, in the Town of Hillsborough's Extraterritorial Planning
Jurisdiction (outside the municipal limits of the Town). Those criteria are:
• Right-of-way extended to allow connectivity;
• Irons have been set at the edge of right-of-way to mark the corners of the lots;
• Plat includes appropriate certificates of dedication of the right-of-way and acceptance of the
public right-of--way signed by the appropriate entities.
The subdivision was not subject to Orange County subdivision regulations, as the subdivision
is located in Hillsborough's planning jurisdiction. The plat lacks the acceptance of the public
right-of--way certificates signed by a governing body as that is an Orange County certificate
requirement. and is not required by the Town of Hillsborough. The plat does contain proposed
