10
1 Chair Jacobs said the mayors and town managers could be looped into the initial
2 process and told where they will be engaged. He said this will allow them to be part of the
3 communication.
4 Colleen Bridger said she wants to get this right. She said if this is passed as part of the
5 budget, then the next step is the advisory board, so that work can be done over the summer.
6 Commissioner Gordon asked if this overall board is going to select the zones.
7 Colleen Bridger said yes. She said the advisory board will hear presentations from each
8 of the neighborhoods as to why they should be picked, along with statistical information. She
9 said two will then be chosen, with the expectation that there will be one in the north and one in
10 the south.
11 Commissioner Gordon noted that zone six includes the Frank Porter Graham Child
12 Development Center. She said this might be a valuable resource.
13 Commissioner Price asked if there are plans to add other neighborhoods once the first
14 two are started.
15 Colleen Bridger said yes, but it will be at least a year or two after the first two
16 neighborhoods are started.
17 Chair Jacobs said this is an area that Commissioner Dorosin had a great interest in. He
18 said the Board looks forward to working with staff on this.
19
20 4. Questions and Answers
21 Board member and staff introductions were made.
22 The meeting was adjourned at 6:57 p.m.
23
24 Barry Jacobs, Chair
25
26
27 Donna Baker
28 Clerk to the Board
29
30
