He is a public health attorney in Carrboro. He said there are smoking response teams made up of members of the <br />29 health department, volunteers from the community, and occasionally, officers from the Police <br />30 Department. He said these teams go out into the community, talk to people, and give out <br />31 pamphlets. <br />32 Commissioner McKee arrived at 6:00 PM . <br />33 Corey Davis said a grant has been submitted to research the efficacy of the no smoking <br />34 rule to see if it actually results in fewer people smoking. He said staff will find out in the fall if <br />35 they have received this grant. <br />36 He said Orange County is leading the state in responding to opioid overdose. He said <br />37 this is now the leading cause of accidental injury and death. He said a law was passed last <br />38 year by the state legislature, making it easier to prescribe and distribute naloxone, which is an <br />39 antidote that reverses the effects of opioid overdose. <br />40 Corey Davis said staff is also working on an educational campaign regarding disposal of <br />41 expired prescription medication. <br />42 Chair Jacobs said Commissioner Rich will not be able to attend tonight. <br />43 Commissioner Price asked about the numbers on the slide regarding evidence based <br />44 interventions. <br />45 Colleen Bridger said there were four different evidence based policies in a larger <br />46 database that are being referred to here. She said there is evidence to support to four different <br />47 types of policies that are specific to supporting health literacy. <br />48 Chair Jacobs asked for an update on the smoking ban in Chapel Hill. <br />49 Colleen Bridger said this is going really well, and staff is excited about the progress <br />50 there. She said there has been great participation from town staff and businesses in Chapel <br />
