She said this will be determined by the end of June. <br />Sharon Hinton said the Building Futures Program inherited about 70 participants, and <br />has received another 115 new referrals since January. <br />Robert Gilmore presented the following slide: <br />Employment: Work First <br />• Work First is North Carolina's TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) <br />plan to help families move off of welfare and into jobs. To help families, Work <br />First provides employment services; supportive services and time limited cash <br />assistance to families with children under age 18 who meet income and <br />resources guidelines. <br />Robert Gilmore said he has been the Human Services Supervisor for the Work First <br />program for over 14 years. He said the program provides for families in a holistic manner. A <br />video was shown of a participant in the Work First program. <br />Nancy Coston said there is another face to the impact of poverty, and these situations <br />often involve the social work staff with adult and child protective services. She said some of the <br />County emergency funds are used to help these programs. <br />Dustan Lowell presented the following slides: ( *this was a change in the order of slides <br />included in the abstract) <br />
