UNC-CHAPEL HILL PLANNING PANEL <br /> Transportation Goals and Principles, Cont'd. <br /> These two sites should be planned to include efficient linkage to Triangle-wide <br /> transportation systems as well as systems internal to Chapel Hill. <br /> • Planning for these two sites should incorporate the policies and plans of the Triangle <br /> Transit Authority, including: <br /> — Connections to the proposed light rail triangle transit system, and <br /> — Connections to the existing TTA bus system. <br /> • Explore using the existing heavy rail corridor for rail, bike and other movement <br /> between the Horace Williams Tract and Main Campus. <br /> Pedestrian and bicycle circulation plans need to be developed. <br /> • Plans should include dedicated travel areas for each mode. <br /> • Recommendations of the Regional Bicycle Plan, Town of Chapel Hill Bikeways Plan, <br /> Town of Chapel Hill Pedestrian Plan, and the Town of Chapel Hill Greenways Plan <br /> should be integrated into the plans for these two tracts. <br /> Existing and potential open space networks should be included as part of the overall <br /> transportation pattern. <br />
