UNC-CHAPEL HILL PLANNING PANEL <br /> 1 Goals and Principles, Cont d. <br /> Environment/Ecology ogy p <br /> Sensitive Features, Cont'd, <br /> • Address the current and long-term safety(groundwater quality, etc.) of radioactive <br /> waste and/or unknown materials within: <br /> — Old University/Town Landfill (located within the east-central portion of the Horace <br /> Williams property) <br /> — Older University/Town Dump (located beneath the"P"parking lot near intersection <br /> of Airport Road and Estes Drive Ext., and <br /> — Waste Chemical Storage Area(small fenced area, located within the east-central <br /> portion of the Horace Williams property). <br /> • Coordinate the management of stormwater run-off within the context of the entire <br /> community. <br /> • Design land uses,transportation corridors, etc. that"reduce, reuse and recycle". <br /> • Location of potential "light rail"corridor through Mason Farm property should closely <br /> parallel the existing transportation corridors (54 east and Fordham Blvd.) in order to <br /> minimize negative impact on existing neighborhoods and sensitive natural areas <br /> (North Carolina Botanical Garden and Mason Farm Biological Reserve). <br />
