ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: June 24, 2008 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. G{-__`~ <br />SUBJECT: Schools Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance (SAPFO) -Approval of <br />Annual 2008 Report <br />DEPARTMENT: Manager/Budget/Planning/ PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />Attorney <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />2008 Annual SAPFOTAC Report <br />(Under Separate Cover) <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Craig Benedict, 245-2592 <br />Donna Coffey, 245-2151 <br />Geoff Gledhill, 732-2196 <br />Perdita Holtz, 245-2611 <br />PURPOSE: To approve the 2008 SAPFOTAC Report related to various aspects of Orange <br />County Schools (OCS) and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS); as outlined in the draft <br />Annual Report of the SAPFO Technical Advisory Committee (SAPFOTAC) and the incorporated <br />forms. <br />BACKGROUND: At the December 11, 2007 Board of County Commissioners' meeting, the <br />Board approved the November 15, 2007 actual membership and capacity numbers for both <br />Orange County Schools (OCS) and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS). Additional <br />approvals/certifications, as outlined in the table below, are required by the SAPFO partners <br />MOUs (Memorandum of Understanding). <br />At the May 1, 2008 BOCC meeting, the Board received for review the draft 2008 SAPFOTAC <br />report. The draft report was also posted on the Orange County Planning Department's web site. <br />A letter and the Executive Summary of the report was sent to all SAPFO partners on May 5, <br />2008 advising them of the availability of the draft report and inviting comment. Comments were <br />requested for submission prior to May 30, 2008. No comments have been received, but staff <br />did receive official notification that the Chapel Hill Town Council formally received the report at <br />its May 19, 2008 regular meeting. <br />The May 1, 2008 abstract incorrectly stated that membership growth at the Middle School level <br />in OCS was 57 students this year; the actual growth was 61 students. <br />The exact pages of the 2008 SAPFOTAC report that the BOCC will be acknowledging and <br />certifying are listed below. The context (i.e.: definitions and standards) of the various SAPFO <br />elements precedes the data to be certified and is within the full report. <br />
