/V/- -3/1;7 0s- <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> ORANGE COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEEK <br /> April 2 - 8, 1995 <br /> WHEREAS, The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners and <br /> the National Association of County Commissioners have <br /> encouraged citizens across the state and the nation to learn <br /> more about county government's role in our lives; and <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County government has served the citizens of the <br /> County since 1752 and places its emphasis on addressing <br /> citizens concerns and needs; and <br /> WHEREAS, The elected and appointed officials of Orange County take <br /> pride in serving the citizens in the County; and <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County is on the forefront of many issues critical to <br /> both our state and nation, including health care, child and <br /> elder care, environmental protection, social services,job <br /> training, emergency management services, drug and alcohol <br /> abuse treatment, law enforcement, water and sewer services, <br /> and library services; and <br /> WHEREAS, In a recent Gallup poll of U.S. citizens' attitudes toward <br /> federal, state and local government, individuals said that local <br /> governments gave the most for the money and spent tax dollars <br /> most wisely; and <br /> WHEREAS, The theme for National County Government Week is <br /> "Children's Issues" and Orange County recognizes that our <br /> children are the county's most valuable resource; and <br /> WHEREAS, Like our children, America's counties are America's future. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, We, the ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, <br /> do hereby proclaim the week of April 2 - 8, 1995, as Orange <br /> County Government Week, and further encourage all citizens <br /> to become familiar with the services provided by Orange <br /> County government. <br /> This the 21st day of March, 1995. <br /> Moses Carey, Jr., Chair <br /> Orange County Board of Commissi (rs <br />
