Proclamation Recoqnizinq Chapel Hill Hiqh School Women's Soccer Team <br /> Winninq the 2014 State Championship <br /> The Board considered a proclamation recognizing the Chapel Hill High School <br /> Women's Soccer Team and Coach Ron Benson for winning the 2014 State Championship <br /> and authorizing the Chair to sign. <br /> Head Coach Ron Benson introduced himself. <br /> Commissioner Gordon read the proclamation: <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION ON <br /> CHAPEL HILL HIGH SCHOOL WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM AND COACH RON BENSON <br /> WINNING THE 2014 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP <br /> WHEREAS, on May 31, 2014, Chapel Hill High School Women's Soccer Team captured the <br /> North Carolina High School Athletic Association's (NCHSAA) 3A State <br /> Women's Soccer Championship; and, <br /> WHEREAS, under the guidance of Coach Ron Benson, the Chapel Hill High School Women's <br /> Soccer Team earned its first NCHSAA State title, completing the season with <br /> a 23-1 record; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Coach Ron Benson, after 34 years of leading the Tigers, has announced his <br /> retirement; and, <br /> WHEREAS, through hard work, dedication, teamwork, and commitment, the Lady Tigers <br /> brought honor upon themselves, Chapel Hill High School, the Chapel Hill / <br /> Carrboro City Schools District and Orange County; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> expresses its sincere appreciation and respect for the Chapel Hill High School <br /> Women's Soccer Team and Coach Benson for the Tigers' outstanding <br /> achievement, and their inspiration to youth across North Carolina through their <br /> dedication, teamwork, and athletic prowess. <br /> This, the 17th day of June 2014. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Rich to <br /> approve the proclamation recognizing the Chapel Hill High School Women's Soccer Team for <br /> winning the 2014 State Championship and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation on <br /> behalf of the Board. <br />
