He said local government includes the towns. He said this
initiative would be especially valuable during inclement weather periods.
Commissioner Gordon asked about the slide referencing the Southern Human Services
Center master plan. She asked if the plan will avoid future building footprints when placing
geothermal wells. She asked that this be considered when planning.
Wayne Fenton said one of the beautiful parts of having this at the beginning of the
process is the ability to incorporate it with overall planning. He said potential building pads can
be avoided.
Commissioner Gordon applauded this effort.
Chair Jacobs said he is glad to see that there will be a sustainability coordinator. He
said this is a great total package, but he has a few concerns.
He said there are still faucets at the Central Orange Senior Center that run for 30
seconds, and he has asked about this twice before. He said this is not a way to have water
efficiency.
Chair Jacobs said, despite the fact that it has been stated, it still does not seem to be
the County policy to avoid using Styrofoam and plastic ware. He said this is the policy, and he
would like to make sure that people follow it.
Chair Jacobs said he hopes to be able to talk to the new sheriff about using local foods
in the jail kitchen.
