GORDON <br />BERNADET7E PELISSIER <br />RENEE PRICE <br />PENNY RICH <br />August 27, 2014 <br />Dear Commissioners, <br />INFORMATION ITEM <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />Post Office Box 8181 <br />200 South Cameron Street <br />Hillsborough, North Carolina 27278 <br />At the Board's June 17, 2014 regular meeting, petitions were brought forth which were reviewed by the Chair/Vice <br />Chair /Manager Agenda team. The petitions and responses are listed below: <br />1) Review and consider a public request that the County provide funding for the Clearinghouse for Affordable <br />Housing. <br />Response: Housing & Financial Services staff will be researching; staff will provide update to BOCC. <br />2) Review and consider a request by Gordon that BOCC electronic agendas be formatted online to: allow users to <br />click on an individual item or attachment that they wish to review and directly jump to that item; number the pages <br />of the agenda packet consecutively, from 1 to N, where N equals the total number of pages for all the agenda <br />items in the agenda packet; and that staff report back to the BOCC how these agenda access changes could be <br />made, and what resources would be needed to do that. <br />Response: Manager to consult with Information Technologies Director and other County staff. <br />3) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Gordon that staff provide JPA items to all BOCC <br />members within 3 -5 days of receipt and that the items be reviewed at Chair/Vice Chair agenda review for <br />possible inclusion on a Board meeting agenda. <br />Response: Planning staff is reviewing opportunities related to the request and will provide feedback <br />initially to Chair, Vice Chair and Manager. <br />4) Review and consider a request from by Commissioner Price that the Board recognize by Resolution, <br />rather than by letter, all anniversaries 150 years or greater. <br />Response: Staff to work with public and BOCC on succinct Board resolutions for recognitions, <br />anniversaries, etc. that are 100 years or greater. <br />5) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Jacobs that staff follow -up on previous request that staff <br />investigate community responsibility efforts of banks and financial institutions the County does business <br />with. <br />Response: Manager to confer with Financial Services. <br />6) Review and consider request by Commissioner Jacobs that staff provide information to the Board on the <br />feasibility and pros and cons of the County requiring senior staff (department heads, assistant managers) <br />hired in the future to live in the County. <br />Response: Manager to follow -up with Human Resources and County Attorney. <br />7) Review and consider request by Commissioner Jacobs that staff provide a report to the Board on Orange <br />County's ability to regulate fracking and the permitting process related to it. <br />Response: DEAPR staff to provide follow -up information, including any information on known contracts in <br />Orange County, and County Attorney to review legal constraints of County authority. <br />
