ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: September 4, 2014 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. 6 -h <br />SUBJECT: Performance Agreement Between the Town of Chapel Hill and Visitors Bureau <br />DEPARTMENT: Chapel Hill /Orange County PUBLIC HEARING: (Y /N) No <br />Visitors Bureau <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />2014 -2015 Performance Agreement <br />Between the Town of Chapel Hill and Laurie Paolicelli, 919 - 245 -4322 <br />the Chapel Hill /Orange County Visitors <br />Bureau for Annual Funding <br />PURPOSE: To approve and authorize the Manager to sign the 2014 -2015 performance <br />agreement between the Town of Chapel Hill and the Visitors Bureau. <br />BACKGROUND: Pursuant to the Chapel Hill /Orange County Visitors Bureau's annual <br />performance agreement with the Town of Chapel Hill for tourism promotion, $175,000 is <br />allocated to the Visitors Bureau annually. In addition, the Town will pay 50% of any additional <br />revenues collected in the event the hotel /motel occupancy receipts exceed the Town's <br />budgeted amount of $985,000. <br />For fiscal year 2012 -13, occupancy receipts exceeded the Town's budget by $26,000 whereby <br />the Town provided an additional $13,000 to the Bureau. For fiscal year 2013 -14, receipts <br />exceeded the Town's budget by approximately $102,000 and the Bureau expects an estimated <br />$51,000 in additional funding to be paid in FY 2015. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Town of Chapel Hill will provide $175,000 to the Chapel Hill /Orange <br />County Visitors Bureau, plus 50% of any additional revenues collected in the event the <br />hotel /motel occupancy receipts exceed the Town's budgeted amount of $985,000 <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the performance <br />agreement between the Town of Chapel Hill and the Visitors Bureau, and authorize the <br />Manager to sign the agreement on behalf of the County. <br />
