18 <br /> 1 Commissioner Gordon asked for clarification about the transfer issue. <br /> 2 James Barrett said there was a study commission that was asked to look at the <br /> 3 Colorado model, and then returned with proposed legislation. He said this is cued to be <br /> 4 considered in the short session. <br /> 5 Commissioner Gordon asked if this means students can enroll in any school district. <br /> 6 James Barrett said yes, if there was space. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 Debbie Piscitelli said students get to go where they want to go and schools get state <br /> 9 funds but not local money. She said another issue is the virtual charter schools, which are <br /> 10 requesting the same per pupil funding. <br /> 11 Chair Bedford said this morning the school board association asked that a survey be <br /> 12 done regarding the abolishment of common core. She said she hopes that all of the school <br /> 13 board members did the survey. <br /> 14 Chair Jacobs said he just read that Indiana was the first state to adopt common core <br /> 15 and the first state to drop out. <br /> 16 Chair Bedford recognized Steve Halkiotis.
