5 <br /> 1 Ron Benson recognized the soccer players and his assistant for their achievements. He <br /> 2 expressed thanks to the Board. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 b. Addition of Resolution Recognizing Michael Talbert for Service to Orange County <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Commissioner McKee read the following resolution: <br /> 7 <br /> 8 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 9 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING MICHAEL TALBERT FOR SERVICE TO ORANGE COUNTY <br /> 10 <br /> 11 WHEREAS, Michael Talbert has served in multiple positions since joining Orange County <br /> 12 Government in December 2009; and <br /> 13 <br /> 14 WHEREAS, Michael Talbert continually stepped forward to fill gaps at increasingly <br /> 15 challenging positions; and <br /> 16 <br /> 17 WHEREAS, Michael Talbert advanced from a temporary position with Financial Services, <br /> 18 took on the role of Deputy Financial Services Director in September 2010, <br /> 19 moved to Assistant County Manager in November 2011 and served as Interim <br /> 20 County Manager starting in September 2013; and <br /> 21 <br /> 22 WHEREAS, Michael Talbert worked to promote policies and practices with a strong eye <br /> 23 toward financial implications to improve the well-being of Orange County; and <br /> 24 <br /> 25 WHEREAS, Michael Talbert coordinated extremely challenging projects including the <br /> 26 Emergency Services Workgroup, the Historic Rogers Road Neighborhood Task <br /> 27 Force, an overhaul of the Capital Improvement Plan reporting structure and <br /> 28 moving the County forward on multiple aspects of solid waste and recycling; and <br /> 29 <br /> 30 WHEREAS, Michael Talbert's demeanor, intelligence, poise and collaborative spirit <br /> 31 consistently promoted relationships and attitudes that facilitated healthy <br /> 32 partnerships; and <br /> 33 <br /> 34 WHEREAS, Michael Talbert's public service reflects a level of dedication, responsiveness, <br /> 35 training, receptivity and hard work that is to be admired and saluted; <br /> 36 <br /> 37 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of Commissioners, the <br /> 38 County staff, and the residents of Orange County do hereby express our <br /> 39 appreciation and respect for Michael Talbert for his service and leadership, and <br /> 40 wish him well as he retires and moves on to other endeavors. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 This the 17th day of June 2014. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Pelissier to <br /> 45 adopt the resolution Recognizing Michael Talbert for Service to Orange County. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 48 <br /> 49 Michael Talbert thanked the Board.
