Proclamation Recognizing Chapel Hill High School Women's Soccer Team <br /> 4 Winning the 2014 State Championship <br /> 5 The Board considered a proclamation recognizing the Chapel Hill High School Women's <br /> 6 Soccer Team and Coach Ron Benson for winning the 2014 State Championship and <br /> 7 authorizing the Chair to sign. <br /> 8 Head Coach Ron Benson introduced himself. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 Commissioner Gordon read the proclamation: <br /> 11 <br /> 12 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 13 <br /> 14 PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION ON <br /> 15 CHAPEL HILL HIGH SCHOOL WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM AND COACH RON BENSON <br /> 16 WINNING THE 2014 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP <br /> 17 <br /> 18 <br /> 19 WHEREAS, on May 31, 2014, Chapel Hill High School Women's Soccer Team captured the <br /> 20 North Carolina High School Athletic Association's (NCHSAA) 3A State <br /> 21 Women's Soccer Championship; and, <br /> 22 <br /> 23 WHEREAS, under the guidance of Coach Ron Benson, the Chapel Hill High School Women's <br /> 24 Soccer Team earned its first NCHSAA State title, completing the season with a <br /> 25 23-1 record; and, <br /> 26 <br /> 27 WHEREAS, Coach Ron Benson, after 34 years of leading the Tigers, has announced his <br /> 28 retirement; and, <br /> 29 <br /> 30 WHEREAS, through hard work, dedication, teamwork, and commitment, the Lady Tigers <br /> 31 brought honor upon themselves, Chapel Hill High School, the Chapel Hill / <br /> 32 Carrboro City Schools District and Orange County; <br /> 33 <br /> 34 NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> 35 expresses its sincere appreciation and respect for the Chapel Hill High School <br /> 36 Women's Soccer Team and Coach Benson for the Tigers' outstanding <br /> 37 achievement, and their inspiration to youth across North Carolina through their <br /> 38 dedication, teamwork, and athletic prowess. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 This, the 17th day of June 2014. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Rich to <br /> 43 approve the proclamation recognizing the Chapel Hill High School Women's Soccer Team for <br /> 44 winning the 2014 State Championship and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation on <br /> 45 behalf of the Board. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 48 <br />
