3 <br /> 1 Gail Hughes presented the following PowerPoint slides: <br /> 2 Orange County <br /> 3 Voluntary and Enhanced Voluntary <br /> 4 Agricultural Program <br /> 5 • June 3, 2014 <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Orange County VAD/EVAD Program <br /> 8 Benefits of Agricultural Districts <br /> 9 ➢ Voluntary Agricultural District is a 10 year commitment but the landowner can be <br /> 10 withdrawn from the VAD at any time, for any reason, with a 30 day notification. <br /> 11 ➢ Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural District is an irrevocable 10 year commitment, therefore <br /> 12 the "enhanced" qualifies farm for 90% cost share rates and a priority for grants funds. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Benefits include: <br /> 15 ➢ Makes public more aware of the local agricultural and its vital role in the economics of <br /> 16 the county; <br /> 17 ➢ Recorded notice of agricultural district is recorded at County Land Records office; <br /> 18 ➢ Land search on all properties within a 1/2 mile radius is notified of the agricultural status; <br /> 19 therefore, the landowner has increased protection from nuisance lawsuits. <br /> 20 ➢ Public hearings for proposed condemnation of VAD land and utility assessments may be <br /> 21 suspended or waived on EVAD land if not connected to the utility. <br /> 22 ➢ Farm may receive up to 25% of gross sales from the sale of non-farm products and still <br /> 23 maintain its zoning exemption as a bona fide farm. (EVAD only) <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Dwight Poole <br /> 26 Cedar Grove Agricultural District <br /> 27 Farm includes pasture, vegetable crops, livestock and managed woodland/forestry. <br /> 28 EVAD = 19.87 acres <br /> 29 VAD = 18.33 acres <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Cecelia Redding <br /> 33 Caldwell Agricultural District <br /> 34 Farm includes vegetable, fruit, small grain, and hay crops; shiitake mushrooms, and <br /> 35 managed forestry/woodland. <br /> 36 EVAD =151.06 acres <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Parker Farm <br /> 39 T. Watson, Penny, Thomas Parker <br /> 40 Cedar Grove Agricultural District <br /> 41 Farm includes a poultry operation, beef cattle, hay crops, and managed <br /> 42 forestry/woodland. <br /> 43 VAD = 82.22 acres <br /> 44 <br /> 45 David and Vickie McKee <br /> 46 Caldwell (21.15 ac.) and <br /> 47 Buckhorn/Cane Creek (147.64 ac.) <br /> 48 Agricultural Districts <br /> 49 Farm includes beef cattle operation, pasture, corn, grain, soybeans, hay crops, and <br /> 50 managed forestry/woodland <br />
