Proposed UDO Text Amendments <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: (919) <br />Perdita Holtz, Planning, 245 -2578 <br />Craig Benedict, Planning, 245 -2592 <br />PURPOSE: To hold a public hearing on Planning Director initiated Unified Development <br />Ordinance (UDO) text amendments to change the existing public hearing process for UDO -, <br />Comprehensive Plan -, and Zoning Atlas- related items. <br />BACKGROUND: The intent of the proposed changes is to offer more opportunities for review <br />of development applications or zoning changes and to clarify the process for the various <br />affected parties. Please see Section B of Attachment 1 for relevant information. <br />The "Amendment Outline Form" (Attachment 1) for these amendments was approved by the <br />BOCC at its October 15, 2013 regular meeting. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Existing staff will complete the necessary work required for this project. <br />Changing the public hearing process is not expected to cause financial impacts (negative or <br />positive). Legal ads and mailed notifications, if required, would have to be sent regardless of <br />the process. Internal work flow, both within the Planning Department and in other County <br />Departments that have involvement with agenda setting, will need to be updated /changed. <br />Initial meetings with these departments have indicated that necessary changes can be <br />accommodated. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Planning Director recommends the Board- <br />1 . Receive the proposed amendments to the UDO as detailed in this abstract and <br />attachments. <br />2. Conduct the public hearing and accept public, BOCC, and Planning Board comment <br />on the proposed amendments. <br />3. Refer the matter to the Planning Board with a request that a recommendation be <br />returned to the BOCC in time for the November 6, 2014 BOCC regular meeting. <br />
