Fikes x2490 <br /> TELEPHONE NUMBER <br /> Hillsborough 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br /> Mebane 227-2031 <br /> Durham 688-7331 <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> PURPOSE: To award five housing rehabilitation contracts for the HOME <br /> Housing Rehabilitation Program. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Housing and Community Development Department solicited bids <br /> from qualified housing rehabilitation contractors participating <br /> in the County' s Housing Rehabilitation Program. Sealed bids <br /> were received from participating contractors on December 2, <br /> 1994 and January 26, 1995 and opened on the same days <br /> respectively. Bid results are attached. <br /> Present program procedures provide that housing rehabilitation <br /> contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. Please <br /> note that the lowest bidder for Dwelling #13 is not a Licensed <br /> General Contractor therefore this company cannot receive the <br /> contract award. State Building Code requires that all <br /> renovation work in excess of $30,000 in cost be performed by a <br /> licensed general contractor. The next lowest bidder, JOCCA is <br /> a licensed general contractor and is recommended for contract <br /> award. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> The Manager recommends awarding the following five rehabilitation <br /> contracts: <br /> Dwelling Unit Bid Amount Contractor <br /> #4-CH $ 32,220 CFW <br /> #3-CH $ 21, 150 Edwards Construction Co. <br /> #5-CH $ 6,050 Orange-Chatham Home Repair <br /> #12 $ 28,925 Taylor Home Improvements <br /> #13 $ 34,545 JOCCA <br />
