At their November, 1994 meeting, the Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau Board approved a
revision to their 1994-95 budget. The amended budget reflects a one time award of$30,000 from the
Town of Chapel Hill in support of the Visitors Bureau operation. In addition to this grant, the Visitors
Bureau received an additional $14,804 in hotel/motel tax revenue during the 1993-94 fiscal year. The
total requested budget amendment of$44,804 (see box#I on page 2)will be used for additional
collateral materials and marketing activities.
County Capital Projects Fund
2. At the February 6, 1995, meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved a request from the
Orange County Rescue Squad and the South Orange Rescue Squad to provide matching funds for rescue
equipment grants approved by the Department of Insurance. The Board approved an appropriation of
$30,000 from the County Capital Project Fund Balance, with $10,000 being appropriated to each Squad
to match the Department of Insurance grant, and the remaining$10,000 to be used for high priority
rescue equipment/training to support the centralized resource concept. The attached county capital
project ordinance(page 3 of this abstract) appropriates these funds for this purpose.
Recommendation
The Manager recommends that the Board approved the attached budget ordinance amendment and
capital project ordinance.
