Fikes, x 2490 <br /> TELEPHONE NUMBER <br /> Hillsborough 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br /> Mebane 227-2031 <br /> Durham 688-7331 <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> PURPOSE: To approve the execution of a Change Order for the <br /> public facilities contract with Ralph Hodge Construction Company for <br /> $51,000 for the Magnolia Place Housing Development Program. <br /> BACKGROUND: In April 1994 the Board of Commissioners approved a <br /> contract with Ralph Hodge Construction Company for $415,883 for public <br /> facilities improvements (water/sewer, streets) for the Magnolia Place <br /> subdivision. Magnolia Place is a 42 unit subdivision being developed <br /> by the Orange Community Housing Corporation and Development Resources, <br /> Inc. for low/moderate income first-time homebuyers. <br /> A change order for the installation of a pump station is necessary in <br /> order to complete the improvements. The cost is $51,000 and the <br /> estimated completion date is March 5, 1995. The change order brings <br /> the total contract price to $466,883. <br /> The County only has $447,050 in CDBG and HOME funds available for this <br /> project. The difference between the total contract price of $466,883 <br /> and $447,050 is $18,833 which will have to be paid by Orange Community <br /> Housing Corporation. They will deposit this amount with the County upon <br /> approval of this change order by the Board of Commissioners. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> The Manager recommends that the Board approve the execution of a Change <br /> Order for the public facilities contract with Ralph Hodge Construction <br /> Company for $51,000 for the Magnolia Place Housing Development Program by <br /> the Chair on behalf of the Board. <br />
