30 <br /> CI- ATHAM COUNTY <br /> POPULATION <br /> Population projections were provided by Criminal Justice Partnership Program Staff. Table lb <br /> below shows a slow, but consistent increase in county population from 1991 to 1993 for <br /> Chatham County. <br /> Table lb <br /> CHATHAM COUNTY POPULATION <br /> 1991 39,566 <br /> 1992 40,463 <br /> 1993 41,192 <br /> ARRESTS <br /> The total number of arrests reported by the state were taken directly from the Uniform Crime <br /> Report (UCR) for the state of North Carolina. The number of arrests has remained relatively <br /> constant from 1991 to 1992. The Average Daily Population has remained below capacity <br /> for all three years. From 1991-1993,the average daily population has ranged between 44 and 41. <br /> The total yearly admissions are the total number of inmates committed to the jail in a one year <br /> period. Although the average daily population is not steadily rising, the number of yearly <br /> admission for the jail has rose. It increased by almost 900 in each year. Of the inmates admitted <br /> in 1993, 82% were pre-trial and the remaining were sentenced. In 1992 only 68% were pre-trial <br /> and in 1991, 74%were pre-trial. <br /> I I M011i <br />
