Passmore, ext. 2009 TELEPHONE NUMBER- Hillsborough - 732-8181 Chapel Hill - 968-4501 Mebane - 227-2031 Durham - 688-7331 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PURPOSE: To request approval to amend the Coordinated Area Transportation (C.A.T. ) Driver Assignment agreement between Orange County and Orange Enterprises, Inc. to include the direct operation of the southern Orange route by C.A.T. and to increase the temporary driver's budget accordingly. BACKGROUND: Orange Enterprises, Inc. (OE) operates the sheltered workshop program located on Valley Forge Road south of Hillsborough. OE has been a participating agency in the C.A.T. system since its inception. Under the current agreement OE utilizes two (2) C.A.T. vehicles and one ( 1) C.A.T. driver each day, while providing the other driver from its own staff. It has become increasingly difficult for OE to secure qualified drivers to operate its southern Orange route. In accordance with the current Transportation Development Plan, they have requested that C.A.T. operate both of the routes directly, effective immediately. OE will reimburse the County for the additional driver cost incurred. RECOMMENDATION(S) : The Manager recommends approval and Chair to sign C.A.T. Agreement Addendum with Orange Enterprises, Inc. to provide a driver for the southern Orange route.
