The Planning Board recommended
that the terminus of the proposed loop be in
Durham County where it would be better aligned
with US 15-501 and the East/West Expressway.
The BOCC endorsed the Planning Board
recommendation at their meeting on October 22,
1991 and followed up with a letter to NCDOT.
On March 24, 1992, the BOCC received a report from
staff on two possible Eno Drive corridors in
eastern Orange County. The first corridor
involved two crossings of the Eno River and came
extremely close, if not through, portions of Eno
river State Park. The second corridor lay to the
east and south of the river. While expressing
concern about any highway proposed for Orange
County, the Board recommended that corridor two be
considered for additional detailed study. This
position was expressed to NCDOT in a letter dated
March 26, 1992.
