Price, Jr., Director <br /> November 1, 1994 <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Potential Grant Recipients <br /> FROM: David Brook, Administrator <br /> Historic Preservation Office <br /> RE: 1995 Historic Preservation Fund Grants <br /> I am pleased to announce the 90 day application period for 1995 federal Historic <br /> Preservation Fund grants. This year an estimated $130,000 is available for <br /> preservation grants in North Carolina to local communities or nonprofit <br /> organizations. In accordance with federal requirements, $70,000 of the state's <br /> allocation is reserved for grants in communities that participate in the Certified <br /> Local Government (CLG) program. <br /> Enclosed is a 1995 Grant Application packet. A competitive selection process is <br /> used to determine all recipients. Grant funds are awarded on a matching basis, <br /> generally in the $5,000415,000 range. All projects must be completed by <br /> July 31, 1996. <br /> Eligible projects include architectural and archaeological surveys, preparation of <br /> nominations to the National Register of Historic Places, and preservation plans. <br /> Educational programs, research and publications are usually not funded. Grants <br /> for restoration or rehabilitation of historic properties are extremely limited. <br /> If you are interested in participating in the 1995 Historic Preservation Fund Grant <br /> program, please complete the enclosed application form and return it to the <br /> Historic Preservation Office by January 31.
