Summary <br />As shown at the State of the Local Economy presentation in March, Orange County has <br />been losing private sector jobs over the past five years. The Economic Development <br />Commission recognizes that the goal of creating 5,000 new private sector jobs by 2010 is <br />ambitious. We feel, however, that the preliminary work of securing infrastructure for the <br />three economic development districts is going well. It was always our understanding that <br />most of the job creation would occur in the later plan years. <br />It is our sense that support for economic development is increasing in the community at <br />large and at all levels of government. We look forward to continuing to push for the <br />goals,' and engaging additional partners in the effort. <br />
