Orange County: Buckhorn Yillage
part-time schedule of many of the positions. The average weekly wage in retail trade in Orange
County is $430.31 and $280.79 in the accommodation and food service sector.
Even though retail and accommodation and food service jobs pay less than the average
wage, it does not mean the jobs are unimportant to an economy. Flexible scheduling offered by
these jobs appeal to students, two-parents-working households, seniors, and others. Also, a
portion of every labor market includes unskilled labor desiring entry level positions offering
stable, consistent employment.
The key point garnered from wage information, is that the majority of jobs created by
Buckhorn Village will not be "bread-winning" or "relocation" wages and, therefore, will not
cause people to relocate to Orange County. If the Buckhorn Village project were a technology
company offering average wages of $60,000, it would attract people to relocate. Because of the
lack of incentive for relocation, the impact on schools, residential services; and transportation
will be minimized.
2007 Third-Quarter Wages
County Avg.
