Wilkerson updated the Safety Program and added training classes and inspections to ensure safety on the jobsites, in the vehicles, and at the service/shop facility. Examples of these classes are: Safety 101 /New hire training(Mandatory),Trench sloping/shoring, Confined space, Hazardous materials,DOT flagger certification,Work Zone Flagger Trainer, Work Zone Traffic control supervisor, and Safety Events geared toward encouraging a mentality of Safety on the jobsites, in the vehicles, and at the shop. Additionally, every employee has been trained weekly by"Safety Tool Box Meetings" with random safety topics both on the job, and to/from the jobsites. J.F.Wilkerson Contracting has the following Safety Policies: • The Written Safety Manual every employee receives • Drug—Free workplace: New hire testing and random testing Mandatory Reporting of all Safety violations • Competent Person present on every job • Tool Box meetings weekly(random topics)signed by all workers(English& Spanish) • Crew Safety reports completed every week and reviewed by Safety Director • Safety Inspection weekly by Safety Director on every project, every crew ' • PPE: Hard Hats,reflective vests, gloves, steel toed shoes, safety glasses • Foremen meetings with Leadership Training monthly • Locating of all utilities before any excavation(811) Sloping/Shoring plan before digging • Equipment operator training prior to operation • Ventilating all confined spaces : Vaults and Man Holes(Company Policy) Traffic Flaggers must have training and be card carrying • Traffic Flagger Certification Training by Safety Director • Traffic control, sign placement,barricade placement training • Equipment walk around including reverse alarm check daily • Safety responsibilities of ALL employees,Project Mgr.,Foremen,Operators,Pipe Layers,Laborers,Drivers • How to report accidents, Company protocol • Hazard Communication Material Safety Data Sheets,Trench Box Certifications • Equal Opportunity Requirement and Enforcement • Safety chain of command(reporting all safety needs and/or violations)
