' SECTION 02640 WATER VALVES AND APPURTENANCES <br /> PART 1: GENERAL <br /> 1.01 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> A. This specification covers the requirements for furnishing and installing <br /> valves and other appurtenances for the various water system <br /> improvements shown on the Drawings. <br /> B. Furnish all labor, equipment, materials and incidentals necessary to install <br /> and complete water valve and appurtenance installation in accordance with <br /> ' the plans and specifications. All valves and appurtenance material shall be <br /> of the type and class specified herein. <br /> ' C. All water valve and appurtenance excavation, bedding, pipe laying, jointing <br /> and coupling of pipe joints and backfilling shall be completed as described <br /> herein. <br /> ' 1.02 SUBMITTALS <br /> ' A. The Contractor shall provide six (6) copies of shop drawings or submittals <br /> for the following: <br /> ' 1. All valves, valve boxes, hydrants, air relief valves, tapping sleeves, meters, <br /> manholes, or any other items required for completion of the project. <br /> 1.03 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING <br /> A. The Contractor shall unload valves and appurtenances so as to avoid <br /> deformation or other injury thereto. The Contractor shall store valves and <br /> appurtenances above storm drainage levels. All valves shall be drained <br /> and so stored as to protect them from freezing. <br /> B. If any defective material is discovered after installation, it shall be removed <br /> and replaced with sound pipe or shall be repaired by the Contractor in an <br /> ' approved manner and at his own expense. <br /> ' 1.04 WARRANTY <br /> A. All materials shall be guaranteed to be free from defects in materials and <br /> workmanship for a period of one (1) year after final acceptance by the <br /> Owner. <br /> ' Rev. 10/22/01 PROJECT#13.01126 02640-Page 1 <br />
