Installation of encasement pipe shall include all related work and <br /> services such as mobilization of equipment, constructing and <br /> maintaining working pits, right-of-way maintenance and restoration, <br /> traffic maintenance, mining, excavations, dewatering, sheeting, shoring <br /> and bracing for embankments, operating pits, and as elsewhere <br /> required shall be placed and maintained in order that work may <br /> proceed safely and expeditiously. <br /> D. Installation of the casing pipe shall be carried out without disturbance of <br /> the embankment, pavement, tracks, or other railroad or highway <br /> facilities and without obstructing the passage of traffic at any time. <br /> E. The driven portions of the casing shall be advanced from the lower end <br /> of the casing unless specific permission to do otherwise is obtained by <br /> the Contractor from the Engineer. <br /> F. The alignment and grade shall be carefully maintained and the <br /> encasement pipe installed in a straight line. <br /> G. The space outside the encasement and the ground shall be filled with <br /> grout, sand or pea gravel, as directed by the Engineer. The Engineer <br /> will direct that this space be filled if the space is large enough to cause <br /> any earth settling. <br /> H. Before the pipe is installed in the casing, bolt-on metal skids painted <br /> with bitumastic paint shall be rigidly fastened to the barrel of the pipe. <br /> After completion of the casing, the Contractor shall insert the pipeline in <br /> pre-jointed segments.
