The ArtsCenter presents approximately 60 concerts for adults each year. <br /> representing the spectrum of musical genres by touring artists including folk, blues, Celtic, rock. <br /> singer-songwriter, old-time, and bluegrass. <br /> In the 2014-2015 school year, The ArtsCenter will again partner with Orange County Schools to <br /> offer curriculum-integrated art residencies (correlated directly with the North Carolina Comirnon <br /> Core and Essential Standards curriculum) to all grade levels in all three Title 1 elementary <br /> schools in the district plus the alternative high school, serving more than 1,400 undersewed <br /> children in the county. This partnership is part of The ArtsCenter's focus school program, which <br /> takes place over the course of several years and ultimately helps incorporate arts integration <br /> into a school environment as a whole. This structure ultimately ensures the sustainability of <br /> using the arts to teach curriculum over the long term. The ArtsCenter implemented this as a pilot <br /> program at Central Elementary, in Hillsborough, for five years. New Hope Elementary, also located in Hillsborough, has 58% free/reduced <br /> lunch and the highest English Language Learner population in the district. Efland-Cheeks <br /> Elementary, located in Efland, has 59% free/reduced lunch and one of the largess: Exceptional <br /> Children (EC)-identified populations in Orange County and the second smallest identified gifted <br /> population. Students attending all three schools live in Hillsborough or Efland. The alternative <br /> high school, Partnership Academy in Hillsborough, is the smallest school in the Orange Co <br /> system. but 82% of the students qualify for the free/reduced lunch program. <br /> In the 2014-2015 school year, The ArtsCenter will implement at least 18 Arts-Based Learning <br /> Experience (ABLE) residencies in pre-kindergarten through fifth grades (including, but not <br /> limited to, residencies with a visual arts, drama/theater, dance, or music focus) at Central <br /> Elementary, New Hope Elementary and Efland-Cheeks Elementary, plus a residency for <br /> Partnership Academy.
