Studio 200 HELEN BUISKOOL
Helen Buiskool is an artist with a studio in Carrboro.
She has a BA in Art and Design from SUNY and was a graphic designer for 20 years
(including over 10 years with the Walt Disney Co. in
e California) before deciding to return to exploring her
personal art and teaching kids' art classes. She has
worked in textiles, bookmaking, painting and mixed
u media.
Helen has been teaching art to kids at The Arts Center
since 2006 and also teaches privately at Studio 200. her
home studio.
Art, in some form or another, has always been a par`of my life. As
for back as I can remember, 1 loved to draw. My grandmother was
h especially encouraging of our drawing talent, supplying each of
her grandkids at an early age with our very own sketchbooks For us
to draw in when we came to stay for summer visits. !can still recall
those soft-cover books with their protective tissue paper sheets bound between the sketch paper pages;
they made our artwork feel important. My earliest memories were my drawings of pipe-smoking gnomes
and their toadstool homes complete with tiny doorways and stovepipe chimneys, a popular, albeit
peculiar, subject for many little girls my age growing up in Holland.
http://www.studio200.us/fiber--mixed-media.htmi
