1
In-Kind Support from FRANK and Use of OCAC Funds
FRANK Gallery: For each of our Community Gallery exhibitions, our salaried gallery
manager produces a Show Card listing participating artists and program events and
assists with marketing and promotion through social media and direct mailing.FRANK
gallery hosts opening receptions for each event.
FRANK:inFocus,Karens Project
We continue to receive in-kind contributions of photographic equipment such as a mini
printer and one compact consumer-level camera for our Karen workshops. Community
volunteers provide teaching support, transportation and food. Funding from OCAC
provides art supplies for our workshops and exhibition materials including bilingual
Show Cards, signage, and display items for the children's final exhibition and community
presentation.Funds for marketing enable us to reach wider partnerships and support
through printed brochure and social media management.
FRANK:inFocus,Focus on Autism
We are currently partnering with several community organizations who are providing in-
kind seminars and workshops for Autism week at our gallery. The Jordan Lake Center for-
Creative Arts is contributing funding to pay for supplies for the exhibition and teaching.
FRANK:inFocus,Focus on Photog—raphy
For Focus on Photography, our photo consortium,we have hired an independent
journalist to host an interactive Web blog, and publicity and marketing.Funding from
OCAC will provide additional publicity materials and guest honorarium to enable
FRANK to represent and to sustain Orange County's leadership role in community arts.
Top Three Challenges for 2014-2015
1- Financial-As a non-profit,our goals embrace community outreach. Our artists
alone cannot provide funding and labor for these efforts. Sale of art income is allocated to
rent and maintenance. As we grow,we must rent external venues to accommodate larger
crowds and experimental or innovative presentation of programs. We hire consultants anci
speakers with expertise beyond our membership to meet the needs of our constituents.
Marketing costs increase and require innovative design and strategies to grab attention.
2- Internal Resources -We rely heavily on our internal resources to produce all
exhibitions and programs. Our single paid staff gallery manager juggles multiple roles of
office management including sales, accounting, and marketing while supervising an all-
volunteer staff of member artists for assistance in programming and development.
Although our artists are deeply committed to educational and community endeavors,we
tend to overextend ourselves with volunteer managerial and program tasks, competing
with time and energy for our own art production for the gallery sales.
3- Organizational Model in Process-As we continue to evolve as a collective,we
redefine our roles and missions for this model_We feel we are a unique model requiring
an abundance of commitment, time, energy, and enthusiasm. We rely on the skills of our
members and preofessional volunteers to guide us as we progress and grow.
Outreach Partners for OCAC Grant Funded Projects 2012-2014 See Annual Report
