mahaloJazz rocks out to a packed house at the Station, 201 C E Main St, during the Carrboro
Music Festival. (Staff photo by Kali Hackett)
a beautiful Carolina fall day.
The annual event is a collaboration between the Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department and
the Carrboro Music Festival Planning Committee. Williams said that Carrboro is so unique
because the town government is dedicated to bringing arts to the community. "The town's support
for the arts is pretty amazing for a town of this size. They devote a lot of time and money to helping
the arts. It sets Carrboro apart. It is the most amazing thing for a town of this size."
Terry Bailey, who has been living in Carrboro for over 30 years, also thinks that town's dedication
to the arts makes it the perfect venue for the festival. Bailey said, "Anything you would want to do
artistically, you can find here. You don't have to be an artistic mastermind, either. There is
something for everyone."
As performer and one of the founders See No Weevil, a Chapel Hill-Carrboro based eclectic band,
John Soady said that the music festival is great because it brings the community together. 1 just
like the fact that they block of the streets. You can walk from one venue to the next. And the
people are great. It's just a really great thing."
10/3/2013
