PROGRAMS OFFERED BY THE NORTH CAROLINA YOUTH TAP ENSEMBLE
GOOD VIBRATIONS
This dynamic two-hour show offers a fast-paced performance
emphasizing cutting edge choreography alongside traditional
rhythm tap. Audiences enjoy a diverse show which includes live
singing and Taiko drumming. The music ranges from Vivaldi to
Fiona Apple to Old Crow Medicine Show. Dance styles include
buck, body percussion, and jazz as well as pieces influenced by
Broadway and hip-hop.
TAPPING THE BLUES
Enjoy the Good Vibrations show (described above) with
the additional bonus of legendary blues musicians.
This show emphasizes the roots of rhythm tap, as this
dance form and blues music evolved hand in hand. Two
renowned Music Maker Relief Foundation blues artists
share the stage with NCYTE dancers, showing how the
classics continue to be reinvented.
E CSSIVE DANCE REVUE
This informative 45-minute show brings the audience into the
world of percussive dance. The performance features historically
and geographically diverse dances including traditional rhythm
tap, South African gumboot, Irish step dance, plus much more.
The show—which can be tailored to a specific curriculum or needs
of the educational institution—includes stories and history about
the dances presented. An extensive study guide accompanies this
educational concert which is appropriate for elementary, middle
and high school.
VENUES WHERE NCYTE HAS PERFORMED RECENTLY INCLUDE
The John F.
