Both the ABC Commission and my current employer distribute a product to consumers <br />which must be safe and reasonably affordable, so there are parallels to my experience. I also <br />toured the new ABC warehouse facility last year, and was very impressed with the organization. <br />Conflict of Interest: <br />Supplemental Questions: <br />Alcoholic Beverage Control Board <br />Please list/explain your experience, either professionally and/or from other <br />boards /commissions that you have in the areas of budget, personnel, and management. <br />currently directly manage an $8.4 million budget for the Town of Hillsborough Utilities <br />Department, where I have worked for 15 years. I have addressed multiple sensitive personnel <br />matters during that time, and made recommendations to hire and fire staff as necessary. The <br />department I manage has a staff of 29, and has two treatment plants, a field crew, and the West <br />Fork Eno Reservoir. <br />My tenures on both the NC Rural Water Association and Professional Engineers of NC has <br />included budget reviews and approval, personnel advisory tasks, and decisions for the overall <br />direction of the organizations. I take these matters very seriously, and seek to do the very best I <br />can for the organization I am serving. <br />In addition to the experience listed in the question above, please list the work/volunteer <br />experience /qualifications that would add to your expertise for this board. <br />The various regional committees I have served on have given me perspective for working in a <br />group and considering divergent opinions in coming to a consensus. I have assisted with the <br />Hillsborough Police Department annual driver safety school over the last 15 years. <br />I received the 2012 Engineer of the Year Award from PENC, as well as the 2011 Government <br />Engineer of the Year Award. <br />What do you see as the responsibilities of this board, and what do you hope to <br />accomplish if appointed? <br />The ABC Board is responsible for the activities of the ABC Commission, which is the distribution <br />of alcoholic beverages in the county. The board oversees the system manager, and provides <br />the direction for the organization.
