WHEREAS, local town halls and parent workshops, replicated across the country, will offer <br /> parents research-based tools to help them talk with their teens about alcohol and encourage <br /> adults to consider creating a safer community by becoming involved in reducing underage <br /> drinking; and <br /> WHEREAS, all people are urged to join in the local and national efforts to raise awareness of <br /> the importance of parents and teens talking together about alcohol in order to reduce the risks <br /> and dangers posed to teens and communities; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim <br /> Monday, April 21, 2014 to be: <br /> PowerTalk 21® Day <br /> in Orange County, North Carolina. <br /> This, the 15th day of April, 2014. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner Pelissier to <br /> approve the proclamation and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 5. Public Hearings <br /> a. Zoning Atlas Amendment— Easterlin Rezoning of 5908 US 70 East in Eno <br /> Township — Public Hearing Closure and Action (No Additional Comments <br /> Accepted) <br /> The Board received the Planning Board recommendation, closed the public hearing, <br /> and considered a decision on an owner-initiated general rezoning petition in accordance with <br /> the provisions of the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). <br /> Michael Harvey said this is regarding the rezoning of property, owned by the Easterlin <br /> family, from its current designation of Eno Economic Development Low Intensity (EDD1) to <br /> Eno Economic Development Higher Intensity (EDD2). He said this property is split zoned, and <br /> the Easterlins would like for this property to all be zoned EDD2. <br /> Michael Harvey reminded the Board that the Easterlins currently have a kennel on the <br /> property, as well as a telecommunications facility operating under an existing class B special <br /> use permit. He said kennels are not a permitted land use within the EDD1 category, but a <br /> kennel is allowed in the EDD2 category. He said this will allow the owners to keep their <br /> business going. He said the planning board has voted unanimously to recommend approval. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Rich, seconded by Commissioner Pelissier to <br /> close the public hearing. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> A motion was made Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Price to <br /> approve: <br /> a.
