4 <br /> Orange County Fair— Conceptual Plan <br /> January 23, 2014 <br /> Location: Blackwood Farm Park, NC 86 and New Hope Church Road <br /> Date: Spring 2015* <br /> Main Themes: Live Music, Local Food, Agricultural Demonstrations, Games, Arts/ <br /> Crafts, Non-Profit Booths, History. <br /> Economic Development <br /> The County fair is expected provide a boost to the local economy. Using marketing <br /> opportunities, the event could draw not only Orange County residents, but persons from <br /> surrounding areas. None of the surrounding counties, except for Chatham have an <br /> official county fair and might see a fair in Orange as something worth visiting. Some <br /> spinoff event-related sales and income for other local businesses may be expected as a <br /> result of the fair. <br /> Revenue Generation <br /> The County Fair offers revenue-generation opportunities to offset costs. Possible <br /> revenue generation options include but are not limited to some or a combination of the <br /> following: <br /> • Community Fund-raising (including event or corporate sponsorships) <br /> • Admission Charge (ticket sales) <br /> • Parking or Shuttle Ride charge (could also double as entry pass) <br /> • Food Booth Rentals / Share of food sales receipts <br /> • Arts Booth Rentals / Share of arts/crafts sales receipts <br /> • Tickets for games and rides <br /> • Volunteer Contributions /Community Giving Fund <br /> • Visitor's Bureau Contribution <br /> • Orange County General Fund <br /> The hiring of a contracted professional events planner is proposed (below) to help solicit <br /> funds, coordinate revenue generation and manage costs among other duties. The <br /> events planner could be paid in part or whole with a share of expected revenues, and <br /> would be instructed on the types of sponsors. The estimated breakdown of revenue <br /> projections is included in the attached General Schematic Budget Estimate. An overall <br /> target for the two day event is to attract 13,000 persons (or the equivalent of 10% of the <br /> county population) with the expectation of attracting people from Orange County and <br /> surrounding areas. <br /> Elaboration on County Fair Main Themes: <br /> Several themes for the County Fair have been identified, the following listing elaborates <br /> on a number of possible areas of activity.
