20 <br />Page 2 of 2 Daniel Siler <br />Chapel Hill /Orange County Visitors Bureau <br />Background, education and experience relevant to this board: <br />My professional background has covered much of the ground that will be <br />necessary to make this position successful. To pay for my undergraduate education at UNC, I <br />worked a job that took me to every corner of the county. While in school, I founded the radio <br />news program that continues to rank among the country's best. I served as an on -air personality <br />and News Director at WCHL. These news roles rooted me in the community and allowed me an <br />excellent perspective on the issues we face. <br />I spent more than four years employed by the Journalism School on the campus of UNC Chapel <br />Hill, working with students, faculty and the general administration. Most recently, I have worked <br />on the client side of media buying for an advertising agency with a strong base of clients in and <br />around the Triangle. Throughout this time, I have worked for the Athletics Department at UNC to <br />make the best experience possible for visitors who attend Basketball, Football and olympic <br />sporting events. <br />Experiences from all of those areas color my current skill set, which I would enjoy bringing to <br />bear on the Orange County visitors bureau board. <br />Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br />Conflict of Interest: <br />Historic Preservation Commission (APPLICANTS SHALL RESIDE WITHIN THE TERRITORIAL <br />Background, education and experience relevant to this board: <br />As News Director at WCHL, I spent years keeping up with and reporting on the intricate <br />workings of the County & Town boards. I have worked with the University and with local <br />business owners through positions at UNC Chapel Hill and the Rivers Agency.
