I <br />1 Commissioner Gordon asked for clarification on what pertains to the Chapel Hill <br />2 Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS). <br />3 Craig Benedict said the concept for this program could be replicated in CHCCS if they <br />4 so choose. <br />5 Commissioner Gordon asked if there is an executive summary. <br />6 Abigaile Pittman said attachment 2 from the November 19, 2013 meeting is in their <br />7 packet. <br />8 Craig Benedict said there are summary pages within the documents, and this can be <br />9 collapsed into something that provides a good executive summary. <br />10 Commissioner Gordon said that would be helpful. <br />11 Chair Jacobs asked if the public can speak. <br />12 Craig Benedict said the public could speak. <br />13 <br />14 NO PUBLIC COMMENT <br />15 <br />16 Commissioner Rich asked if staff has discussed this issue with the CHCCS and <br />17 identified any schools that could take advantage of it. <br />18 Craig Benedict said Department of Transportation (DOT) representative Chuck Edwards <br />19 has been in touch with the school system, and the schools are familiar with what Orange <br />20 County is doing. He said this can be replicated. <br />21 Commissioner Rich said it would be great to see kids walking to school on Sewell <br />22 School Road if there were a sidewalk. <br />23 Chair Jacobs asked if staff worked with CHCCS on the provision of sidewalks on <br />24 Homestead Road. <br />25 Craig Benedict said yes. <br />26 Commissioner Gordon said staff could send this item to the attention of CHCCS. She <br />27 suggested noting that this has just been approved by the Board of County Commissioners, and <br />28 it could possibly be done in CHCCS. <br />29 <br />30 A motion was made by Commissioner Rich, seconded by Commissioner Price to close <br />31 the public hearing. <br />32 <br />33 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />34 <br />35 Commissioner Dorosin said the graphs in their packet are not helpful, because there is <br />36 no context or explanation. He said this just raises more questions, and he suggested being <br />37 more conscientious about this. <br />38 Craig Benedict agreed, and said an introductory abstract could be added. <br />39 <br />40 A motion was made by Commissioner Rich, seconded by Commissioner Pelissier to: <br />41 <br />42 1. Receive the OUTBoard's recommendation of approval; <br />43 2. Receive comments and actions from Orange County Schools and the Town of <br />44 Hillsborough; <br />45 3. Receive any written comments; <br />46 4. Approved and authorize the Chair to sign the Resolution (Attachment 8) adopting the Safe <br />47 Routes to School (SRTS) Strategic Action Plan <br />48 <br />49 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />50 <br />
