Ms. McLamb was
my advisory board's closest representative to the manufacturing community due to her position as the HR Manager of
our packing industry MeadWestvaco in Mebane. She was also the only member who was not an Orange County
resident.
Our Policies & Procedures guidelines provide that our advisory board's 10 members include representatives from the
following sectors: core business community (including banking, construction, manufacturing, architecture, real estate,
legal, development, utility management, etc.), agriculture, entrepreneurial, UNC Chapel Hill & tourism. Manufacturing is
not currently represented. ,
I wish to strongly endorse the application of Ronald Keizer as a qualified candidate to fill this open category. Mr. Keizer
owns and operates a small metalworking manufacturing facility, called USA Dutch, which is located in the County's Cedar
Grove area near US 70 Business & Mount Willing Road. His family -owned firm has operated in Orange County for the
past 19 years, employs 27 local residents in the skilled machine trade, and is set to make $2.7 million capital expansion
in 2014 to construct a new 30,000 sq. ft. facility. Mr. Keizer is a graduate of both UNC and Duke. He brings the unique
perspective of a small business owner and a manufacturer who is committed to growing here in Orange County. I ask
that the BOCC review his application and consider him for appointment.
Best regards,
Steve Brantley
Director, Orange County Economic Development
ATTACHMENTS;
• Ronald Keizer — application
• List of Orange County Economic Development Advisory Board Members, March 2014
"Thanks for the information Steve.
