I Craig Benedict said Orange County and the municipalities adopted a bus plan in 2012 <br />2 and proceeded with a referendum in November 2012, which was passed. He said this is now in <br />3 the implementation phase and includes all facets of transit. He said light rail has been accepted <br />4 into project development with the federal transit administration. He said the Amtrak Train <br />5 Station in Hillsborough is proceeding. <br />6 He said monies are becoming available by the half cent sales tax and the County tag <br />7 fee to provide for a 4 or 5 year program to bring additional bus hours to Triangle Transit, Chapel <br />8 Hill Transit and Orange Public Transportation (OPT). He said this will start with the addition of <br />9 around 8,000 hours and will reach 34,000 hours in a 4 year period. He said this is being done <br />10 jointly with the other bus systems to insure coordinated connections. He said the first <br />11 presentation of the 5 year OPT bus program will be done for the Commissioners in April. <br />12 Council Member Bell left at 9:55pm. <br />13 <br />14 b) Chapel Hill North South Corridor Study <br />15 Chapel Hill Transit Director Brian Litchfield said the North South Corridor Study is <br />16 related to the Orange County Bus and Rail investment plan, but it is not being funded by the <br />17 plan.
